The Silver Print Gallery is an extension of Vivienne Silver-Brody’s
research and curatorial activities which have included guest-curating
for the following exhibitions:
Captive in a Dream, the Israel Museum, Jerusalem,
1987; Mood and Movement at the Ramat Gan Museum
of Israeli Art, 1987; The Lure of Petra, Gymnasia Herzliya
goes to Petra, 1929, photographs by Avraham Soskin, and
Neil Folberg’s colour photographs In a Desert Land
at the Silver Print Gallery, then in Jerusalem, 1989; Forty
Years of Photo Journalism in Israel, curated for the
Vision Gallery in San Francisco, 1990.
Documentors of the Dream, Jewish Pioneer Photographers
in the Land of Israel, 1890-1933 was published in 1998
by the Magnes Press of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem and the
Jewish Publication Society, Philadelphia. (Book available for
sale.)
To end the millennium Vivienne curated From Mirror to
Memory, One Hundred Years of Photography in the Land of Israel,
1900-2000, Mane Katz Museum Haifa. (Catalogue available
for sale.)
In 2006 Alfons Himmeleich: Photographer on the Roof,
was curated for The Open Museum of Photography at Tel-Hai, later
traveling to The Open Museum in Omer. (Catalogue available for
sale.)
The Silver Print Gallery deals in nineteenth and twentieth century
local photography, specializing in building collections and bringing
to potential collectors a wide knowledge of local photography.
The collection is also valuable as an archive which may be consulted
for publication purposes.
The gallery is open when Vivienne is there working, or by appointment.
Visitors are invited to enjoy the small library on Israeli photography.
